What to Do in Trauma or Injuries / Broken Tooth?
If your child is less than 6 years of age, take him/her straight to the Children’s Hospital closer to you.
If the tooth is out of the socket, take care handling the tooth, and only handle it by the crown, not the root.
If you are unsure about placing the tooth back, place the tooth in milk. Do not store the tooth in water.
There are times when a tooth can be re-implanted and saved if done so promptly. Teeth that are reinserted into their socket within 1 hour have the best chance of surviving. Cold packs can be used to help in reducing any pain and swelling.
If you play sports, you are more likely to sustain damage to the teeth when you are not wearing a protective MOUTHGAURD. The cost of the injuries sustained without a mouthguard may be more than the cost of having a professional mouthguard made.
